Little Simon is here! The nurses were worried about him right off the bat because he just wasn't crying very enthusiastically when he came out. Further inspection showed a pnumothorax, so he was treated with oxygen for a few hours. After lots of poking and prodding, 2 x-rays, and talk of transferring him to the children's hospital, it was determined that he was doing okay. After 5 hours, I finally got to hold my baby!
Day two was uneventful, and we were so excited to go home Friday morning. Unfortunately, Mr. Simon was suddenly very jaundiced, so we weren't able to go home right away. Instead, we started to supplement his feedings with formula. At 5pm he was tested again and we were given the green light to head home!
Mason was so in love with Simon off the bat! I was amazed at how cute he was with him. "He's so TINY!", he would squeal. It was just adorable. (I still have no good photos of Maya & Simon - she's not much for cooperation in the photo department...)
Daddy is as in love with his boy as the rest of us are. Simon is about as sweet as they come so far. We are knocking on wood that it's not just a temporary state! :) He's absolutely wonderful.
Once the nurse told us we could leave, we were dressed and out the door in about 10 minutes! We didn't want to miss Halloween with the kiddos!
We made it home, fed Mr. Simon and Chris headed out with Maya and Mason for trick or treating. Maya made it to one house and wanted to come home. (She had been looking pretty pale beforehand...) She took a bath, threw up, climbed into bed and was asleep about 2 minutes later. Mason made it around to a few houses and then he was done for, too. So much for Halloween 2008! Well, luckily it comes around every year...
Today so far, Simon had his first at-home sponge bath, has wet at least 5 onesies, has napped and eaten like a champ, and has been mauled by his brother and sister. Good times!

Let me just tell you that when I saw the pictures of baby Simon I was so excited....I said, "Natalie had the baby." My husband (who was sitting next to me) said, "Who is Natalie?
