Updates

Lucy Bear! Growing up already. Throwing around a few smiles. Sweet as can be. Sleeps until around 3:30ish most nights. Sometimes 4ish. Once, 5:30! 6 weeks tomorrow. Crazy, crazy.

This little goose! Simon is my (mostly) independent guy. Loves to play trains. Amuses himself 90% of the time. Got his first hair cut...pics to come...and it was drama free! Amazing.

Hmm, what to say about this turkey? He's been a bit of a storm cloud lately. Cranky. A little naughty. Pushing the limits. Bursting into tears frequently. Is this normal for a 4-year old boy? I don't know what to do...he's always been my ray of sunshine!

Of course, he's also been sweet...sometimes. I'm trying to be more proactive about pursuing playdates & friends for this guy...giving he more to do. I also need to carve out some "just us" time with him, but that's hard to do with 3 other kiddos who need me.

Things that DO make him happy...drawing pictures, playing Legos, attention from his big sister...

...and smooching his baby sister. (And occasionally LICKING his sister, to provoke his mother. I didn't include that picture...)

This girl is quite the helper around the house. Holding baby Lucy. Getting Simon his breakfast. Playing with Mason. Running "errands" for me (filling up my water bottle, fetching me a diaper, etc.). Seriously, I should be paying her.

Somehow she still has time to write LOTS of great stories for us. Quite an imagination, that girl! And a great vocabulary to go along with it...

This guy keeps us all sane. Thank goodness for Daddy!

Freckles & Pimples

Sorry to have been MIA. Baby stuff, summer time stuff, etc. I'm at least going to catch up my pictures & kid update posts here this week. Hopefully I'll get back to cataloging my favorite things here soon. Meanwhile, I'm at least thinking about the family luncheon I want to do for Miss Lucy's baby blessing over the 4th of July weekend. And mulling over the lesson I'm teaching in church that same Sunday. And feeding the baby 24/7. And squeezing in some snuggles for 3 other cuties. And keeping up on the laundry & dishes. At least some of the time. And cooking actual meals at least 3 times a week! And grocery shopping from a list! Baby steps. Slowly getting into the groove with 4 cutie pies...

Lucy Bear - 3 Weeks Old!

I've got to tell you, we fully intend to keep this girl! She is sweet as can be. Of course, like most babies, she thinks she needs to be held a lot of the time. BUT...not ALL of the time, she will sleep on her own quite often. But when she's awake & "fussy-ish", all she requires is a buddy to snuggle her and she's happy - not a screamer, at least not yet. Hooray for that! Snuggle snuggle snuggle, you cannot beat it. We like the Lucy Bear.

My sister in law Audrey made Lucy the cutest blanket, complete with her name hand-stitched on it. LOVE it!

This is her much-labored and mulled-over coming-home outfit. Seriously, I think I spent more time picking the outfit that I did in labor with Lucy. Ridiculous. Good thing I love it!

Pierced Ears

I took Maya to get her ears pierced as her "end of Kindergarten surprise"...and she actually was surprised! She has been asking off & on for a couple of years now, but I've always been pretty vague in my response. I figured when she really wanted it done, she'd pester me into submission. So she's asked often enough lately that I figured she was ready. She picked out the sparkliest, most colorful pair they had, of course!

She was a little nervous...

I promised that after the requisite 6-8 weeks, we'd return to Claire's & get the Doggy earrings she was eyeballing. Let the fun begin...:)

Urban Rugs

I always love browsing the latest & greatest at Urban Outfitters, even though, for the most part, I'm getting too old for most of their stuff. (Sad times.) I'm loving these fun rugs, though. Wish I could figure out a workable spot for them in my home...kitchen, maybe?

Obsessed...

...with the new Band of Horses album, Infinite Arms. Goooood stuff! The song below, Compliments, is Chris' favorite. I like it, too. In fact, I love the entire album. Favorite track, though, is #7, Dilly. You can stream the whole album here.

Quality Not Quantity

I'm not great (yet) about splurging (relatively) on something nice rather than filling my closet with a bunch of average items. But I'm getting better. Case in point: the 2 shirts I wore throughout my pregnancy were the 2 that I splurged and spent some good money on. They were cute, they fit well, they were comfortable. Add up the rest of the "decent" clothes in my closet (that I never wore because they were ill-fitting and ugly) and I could have bought 2-3 more of the nicer shirts. Instead, I just alternated between the 2 of them, especially that last month.

Anyway, I've been eyeballing this dress for a while. Seems very Natalie-style. Seems like something I'd have & wear forever. Seems a little more expensive than I would usually want to go. But perhaps worth it? I'm still deciding...
